Colombia's beekeeping sector experienced an 8% increase in apiary installations in 2022, leading to the creation of around 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. The sector produced approximately 7,000 tons of honey, with the largest activities found in Antioquia, Santander, Cauca, Córdoba, and Cundinamarca. The passage of Law 2193 in 2022 has further boosted the sector by modernizing beekeeping practices, providing commercial opportunities, and supporting business development. The Law has also been supported by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development with training, technical assistance, and the implementation of programs for the sustainable care of bees.
