A study conducted by the University of Jaén's consumption observatory, as part of a Master's Degree in Olive Business Administration, has found that the consumption of seed oils, corn oil, and sunflower oil has decreased due to the general increase in prices of edible oils and fats in Spain. The most significant drop in consumption was observed in middle-income households for both mild and intense olive oils. The demand for virgin and extra virgin olive oils also decreased, except in hypermarkets and in the community of Madrid, where a moderate increase in demand was observed. The demand for animal and vegetable fats other than olive oil also decreased, with the exception of soft and intense oils in supermarkets.
