Hungary is expecting strong foreign demand for watermelons and cantaloupes, with an estimated 125-130 thousand tons of watermelon and 10-12 thousand tons of cantaloupe to be sold. The domestic production area has increased by almost 10 percent, with watermelons being harvested from 2,870 hectares this year. Hungary should also pay attention to neighboring countries, such as Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia, as their production has improved and they can achieve a significant share in the international market. Stable demand can be expected from high-quality melons that meet production standards.
