An online survey conducted from October to November 2019, targeting 1,000 adult males and females nationwide, found that consumers are willing to pay more for antibiotic-free livestock products. The survey revealed that 44.5% of respondents are willing to pay 10% more, with some willing to pay as much as 50% more. The average showed that consumers are willing to pay 19.8% more. This means that the price of antibiotic-free pork will be paid at 341,000 won, which is about 20% higher than the price of regular pork. In the case of antibiotic-free eggs, consumers are willing to pay 20% more. Calculations estimate that the total sales of livestock products would increase by 141.8 billion won, assuming that 100% of general livestock products such as pork, chicken, and eggs were replaced with antibiotic-free livestock products.
