Imported tomatoes become more expensive in Ukraine

In Ukraine, imported tomatoes have risen in price this week, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. The main reason for rising prices in this segment is the insufficient supply of tomatoes on the market. Also, the rise in price of these products is facilitated by the rise in prices for these vegetables directly in Turkey itself due to the intensification of supplies to the European Union countries. As a result, on the Ukrainian market prices for imported tomatoes have increased by an average of 11% since the beginning of this week, and at the moment these products are offered wholesale in Ukraine for 84-100 UAH/kg ($2.15-2.56/kg ). According to market players, the upward trend in prices for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine is due to increased demand for these products against the backdrop of a fairly low supply of imported tomatoes.
