In Ukraine, the price of imported tomatoes has surged by an average of 11% this week, with prices now ranging between 84-100 UAH/kg ($2.15-2.56/kg) due to a combination of low market supply and increased prices from Turkey, a key supplier, driven by its higher exports to the European Union. This situation is exacerbated by a rising demand for greenhouse tomatoes within Ukraine against the backdrop of scarce imports, pushing prices 50% higher than they were a year ago. However, there is an anticipation of price stabilization in the latter half of the month as local greenhouse operations commence their harvest season.
