In 2022, Shandong Province's feed industry continued to lead the nation, with a record-breaking output and value despite challenges such as rising raw material costs and disease losses in livestock. The province was home to 2,300 feed production enterprises, accounting for 15% of the country's feed output value and 14.5% of the country's feed output. The feed industry experienced a steady increase in the output value per ton of feed products, reaching 3,817 yuan/ton in 2022, a 6.9% increase from the previous year. Meat and poultry feed, pet feed, ruminant feed, and aquatic animal feed all saw growth, while there was a decline in feed additives due to export and domestic demand factors. The industry also saw an increase in the use of corn and soybean meal, with efforts to reduce and substitute soybean meal. The distribution of production areas remained largely stable, with Linyi and Weifang cities leading in feed output. The industry also saw an increase in the proportion of bulk feed, reaching 15.4% of the country's bulk feed output, as more enterprises shifted to this type of feed to reduce pollution and shorten use cycles.
