The State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry in Moldova, Vasile Sarban, has forecasted that the country will harvest over 2 million tons of corn in 2023, nearly three times the amount harvested the previous year. Sarban also expects an increase in the gross harvest of other crops such as sunflower, soybeans, and sugar beets. In 2022, Moldova's corn crop was 705 thousand tons, sunflower was 622 thousand tons, soybeans were almost 31 thousand tons, and sugar beets were 382 thousand tons, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
