Porto Alegre, April 10, 2026 – In March, the National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) was 0.88%, surpassing by 0.18 percentage points (p.p.) the index of February (0.70%). This increase was driven by the prices of the groups Transportation and Food and beverages which, together, accounted for 76% of the IPCA in March. The market had predicted an increase of 0.77%. In Transportation, the most relevant increase was for Gasoline (4.59%), with an impact of 0.23 percentage points on the inflation of the month. Other increases occurred in Airfare (6.08%) and Diesel (13.90%), although with less impact, due to the lower weights of these sub-items in the overall index. In Food and beverages, the sub-items Long life milk (11.74%) and Tomato (20.31%) had the most significant price increases, with impacts of 0.07 and 0.05 percentage points on the IPCA of the month.
