Over the past five years, the sown areas for watermelons in Ukraine have decreased by 10%, covering 46.5 thousand hectares in 2020. The country produced approximately 400 thousand tons of watermelons, with 38% of that production found in the Kherson region. Only about 8% of this production was exported, with the main recipients being Moldova, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Belarus. Ukraine's watermelon consumption is relatively low at 4 kg per person per year, and imports make up 1% of the total consumption.
