The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Agricultural Technology Institute (Director Kim Tae-gyun) is launching a full-scale therapeutic farming program in collaboration with social service organizations to provide psychological stability and improve the quality of life for residents in need of emotional support. Therapeutic farming is an industry that contributes to the recovery and maintenance and enhancement of the health of the people through agricultural and rural resources and related activities, and creates social and economic value. The Agricultural Technology Institute has seen positive changes, such as a 34.5% increase in the psychological and emotional index and an 8.5% increase in self-esteem among participants, as a result of operating a therapeutic program utilizing Jeju's agricultural and rural resources in collaboration with four social service organizations last year.
