In the 2021/22 marketing year, Kazakhstan saw a significant increase in unrefined sunflower oil production, with over 278 thousand tons produced, marking a nearly 1.5 times increase compared to the previous year. This surge is largely due to the imposition of export restrictions on sunflower seeds and the development of new seed processing capacities in the country. The result has been price stabilization and increased export of sunflower oil, providing job stability for the local population. Despite geopolitical tensions, the domestic market has not experienced drastic price fluctuations, with prices for sunflower seeds and oil increasing marginally.
