Busan, Korea has initiated its first large-scale commercial Atlantic salmon production using the smart farming cluster project, a national initiative aimed at reducing reliance on imports. The project, located at Pukyong National University Fisheries Science Research Center in Gijang-gun, Busan, will invest 40 billion won by 2023, creating a test bed and hinterland site for smart aquaculture. This eco-friendly farm utilizes advanced technologies like sensors, communication, and data storage devices to produce 500 tons of Atlantic salmon annually. The city expects this to boost domestic production and transform the aquaculture industry.
