Morocco accounts for half of Canada's total mandarin imports

Morocco has been steadily increasing its mandarin exports to Canada, EastFruit reports. In 2022/23 (September-April), Moroccan exporters shipped 73,000 tons of mandarins, an all-time record and half of Canada's total mandarin imports from all destinations. In addition, Morocco has managed to increase its exports to Canada despite a drop in total mandarin exports in the current year. Mandarins are one of the main export categories for Morocco and the country is among the top five largest exporters of this fruit. In 2021/22, Moroccan exports reached a record high of 625,000 tons. Mandarins are the most important category of Moroccan fruit exports and second only to tomatoes in total horticultural exports. They have already provided Moroccan exporters with an export value of € 264 million in the current year.
