The European Member States have agreed on the post-2020 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), marking a significant shift in the way funds are allocated. The new policy will be based on results achieved rather than compliance with rules. Each Member State will need to submit a national strategic plan for the implementation of interventions. The policy, which will be negotiated with the Commission and the Parliament, also includes provisions for climate change and sustainability, with a minimum of 30% of Pillar II expenditure to be allocated to agro-environmental measures. Additionally, the policy will provide support for young and small farmers.
