In 2022, live weight pork prices in Ukraine reached record highs, ranging from UAH 42 to 76.4/kg, according to Oleksandra Bondarska, head of the analytical department of the "Swinemakers of Ukraine" association. The usual seasonal pattern was disrupted due to a significant decrease in pork supply, leading to changes in the supply and causing the pork market to behave unusually. Despite fluctuations, prices for pig carcasses increased slightly to almost $2/kg compared to 2020 and 2021, until the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) revised the exchange rate. However, purchase prices for slaughter pigs in the first week of 2023 remained the same.
