In Ukraine, plans are underway to expedite the return to circulation of agricultural lands that are formally considered potentially contaminated with mines but are already in use. The government has modified the procedure for their inspection to align with tax benefits and accelerate demining efforts. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. According to her, the Cabinet of Ministers has amended the Procedure for surveying land plots that have benefits due to possible mine contamination. From now on, local authorities will check whether such land is being used for its intended purpose. The information will be transmitted to the Humanitarian Demining Center, after which experts in counter-mine action will conduct a non-technical survey. "If a plot is actually being cultivated, then tax benefits are canceled," Svyrydenko noted.
