On January 30, 2023, the prices for poultry feed in international markets significantly increased, with red or white corn wheat reaching 13900 and 13500 JN for a ton, respectively, without considering internal transport costs. Other feed prices such as soybean protein, corn, wheat, and rice also experienced increases. The rising prices of feed and crops, including the scarcity of soybean oil, are attributed to increasing global market prices and the rise in the dollar. The Egyptian Chamber of Commerce's poultry wealth section reported that the cost of poultry feed per ton varies between 19,500 and 22,000 JN depending on quality and transportation expenses. The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture also started leasing farm land for the current crop season to feed manufacturers.
