Prices rose by almost 2% the previous week—the first increase in 2026—and preliminary new season prices strengthened by another $50-100 per ton compared to the previous week, last trading at $2150-2200 per ton CFR China. Port inventories have been reduced to approximately 172,850 tons as of February 4, with daily shipments of 2,900-3,000 tons exceeding arrivals by only 1,600-2,200 tons, as feed producers build inventories ahead of the Chinese New Year. Peru's Ministry of Fisheries closed the anchovy fishing season in the north-central part of the country on February 1 after the fleet caught 1.6 million tons of fish—equivalent to approximately 380,000 tons of fishmeal, or 97.9% of the 1.63 million ton quota.
