Raisins priced at 500 TL per kilo are making people laugh in Malatya

In Akçadağ district of Malatya, the production of raisins this year delighted the producers both with their quality and price. Sold at 500 TL per kilogram, the grapes compensated for the loss experienced in apricots. Malatya, one of Turkey's most important apricot production centers, was negatively affected by agricultural frost in recent months, impacting many fruit producers. Especially in apricots, a serious harvest loss was experienced, while the raisins grown in Akçadağ district were not affected by the frost. Produced in the Doğanlar Kırtekeler area of Akçadağ on approximately 300 acres, the grapes began to be laid out in drying areas as soon as the harvest started. The grapes, left in the sun for about 48 hours, are then collected, packaged, and sold both domestically and abroad.
