Rice: Sowing advances and shows a more balanced scenario

The sowing of the 2025/26 rice crop is advancing consistently in Rio Grande do Sul and shows a more balanced picture among the producing regions. According to information from Sérgio Cardoso, director of operations at Itaobi Representações, the latest data indicate that 94.88 percent of the planned area has already been planted in the state. The good performance is driven by the regions of Campanha, Zona Sul, and Planície Costeira Externa, which have already reached 100 percent of the area sown. The current pace is higher than that observed in the same period of the 2024/25 crop, when the advance was more irregular. At that time, the Central region recorded 68.87 percent of the area planted, while in this cycle the index already exceeds 82 percent, reflecting a more accelerated evolution.
