The Russian government has extended its rice export ban for another six months until June 30, 2025, in order to ensure a stable supply to the domestic market. The ban, which was initially implemented after an accident at the Fedorovsky hydropower complex in the Krasnodar region in April 2022, does not apply to rice exports to the Eurasian Economic Union member states, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, or when sent abroad as humanitarian aid. Russia's rice production has dropped to 797.6 thousand tons in 2022, marking the first time it has fallen below 1 million tons in recent years.
