Spain: Dutch piglet imports soar

According to RVO data for the first quarter of this year, Dutch piglet exports totaled 1.72 million head, an increase of 1.8% over the previous year. The main destination continues to be Germany with 54.4% of the total piglets exported by the Netherlands, followed again by Spain with 26.8% of the total, followed by Belgium and Luxembourg with 12.7%. Of note is the significant increase in Spanish imports of Dutch piglets, which represent 66% more than in the first quarter of last year (278,457 against 462,694).
