Spain sixth export destination for Belgian vegetables and seventh for Belgian fruit

Spain is one of the top 10 important sales markets for Belgian exports of fruit and vegetables. Over the years, Spain has been the 6th export destination for Belgian vegetables. This is good for almost 26 million euros in exports or 43,500 tons. The most important export products are tomatoes and leeks, both of which are increasingly sold on this southern European market. Other vegetables are also sold in Spain, with chicory, cabbages, celery and lettuce recording good volumes. Our vegetable export to Spain is increasing. The upward trend continued in the corona year 2020 as well. For the first half of 2021, our chicory export in particular is doing very well to Spain, where the leek export is experiencing some difficulties. For the export of Belgian fruit, Spain is our 7th export market, worth 22.5 million euros or 27,500 tons.
