South Korea: Jeollanam Province starts the research to find out the cause of eel spondylolisthesis

The Jeollanam-do Academy of Oceans and Fisheries Science announced on the 19th that it has begun a study to determine the cause of spondylolisthesis (curvature of the back) for the production of high-quality eels. External shape abnormalities that occur frequently in eel farming cause problems such as slow growth and a decrease in product value. As a result, aquaculture farmers are complaining of difficulties, such as experiencing large economic losses. The Freshwater Fish Research Institute under the Jeollanam-do Institute of Oceans and Fisheries Science plans to select 10 farms in 7 counties, including Gokseong, Gangjin, Haenam, Yeongam, Muan, Hampyeong, and Jangseong, to investigate the cause of eel curvature.
