Adecoagro, one of the leading agro-industrial companies in South America, completed the total purchase of Profertil S.A., the largest regional producer of granular urea. The operation, valued at approximately 600 million dollars, involved the acquisition of the 50% that was in the hands of YPF and was officially confirmed at the beginning of December 2025, according to reports from media such as Clarín and Bloomberg. With this purchase, Adecoagro becomes the sole owner of Profertil, which produces around 60% of the urea used in Argentina, a critical input for approximately 70% of national crops. This fertilizer is essential for the production of wheat, corn, and soybeans, pillars of Argentina's export-oriented agriculture.
