The conditions for the successful cultivation of amaranth in Ukraine

Growing amaranth with a yield of 4-5 t/ha can earn up to UAH 125,000 in income. But this is under ideal conditions. In fact, in Ukraine, on average, they get a yield of 2.2-2.6 t/ha on large areas, beginners — from 1 to 2 t/ha. Oleksandr Duda, Chairman of the Association of Amaranth and Amaranth Products Producers, told about what conditions are ideal for amaranth. He noted that sowing amaranth currently costs UAH 675/ha. And the agricultural technique of growing crops is very attractive, because it involves minimizing current costs. "We do not recommend applying fertilizers, using synthetic pesticides. The main emphasis is on mechanical care of the crop. The main cultivation is plowing or disking. I am not a fan of plowing, so we take into account the capabilities of farmers and prepare the field by disking," the specialist shared.
