Peru is a major producer and exporter of passion fruit, with 11,922 tons of passion fruit juice accounting for 67% of the total exported in 2023, making a FOB value of USD 66,932 million. The remaining 50% of the production is consumed domestically. The Peruvian government is promoting research, development, and quality certification to enhance passion fruit production. The country is also looking to expand its passion fruit export markets to include the European Union, North America, South America, and Asia. Both small farmers and large companies are involved in the value chain of passion fruit production in Peru. The climatic and agronomic conditions in Peru are ideal for passion fruit cultivation, and the government is emphasizing sustainable practices to position Peru as a leading producer of high-quality passion fruit.
