The cost of breakfast foods in the UK has seen a significant increase, rising by 18% compared to the previous year, a rate higher than the country's inflation, which is at a 40-year high. The cost of a full English breakfast, including items such as bacon, sausages, eggs, toast, and a drink, now averages £19.1 per serving, marking a noticeable increase from the same period in 2021. This surge in breakfast costs is primarily due to the significant rise in electricity and fuel prices. Furthermore, data shows that in May, food prices in the UK grew at the fastest pace since 2009, while costs for utilities have experienced the most significant increase since 2006.
