Meat exports from Uruguay to China in January hit a 29-month low, with a decrease of 4,700 tons compared to December 2022, representing only 60% of sales to China. The average value of frozen boneless meat exported to China has been stable for three months at $4,850 to $4,900 per ton. Uruguay also experienced a 29% year-on-year drop in fresh beef exports, totaling 23,194 tons in January. However, placements in the European Union improved, with a 46% increase compared to January 2022. Uruguay is also working on requesting authorization to export poultry and horse products to the Chinese market.
