The initiative by the authorities with a budget of 10 million leva, called "Shop for the People," has taken its first step. The goal is to offer cheap basic food products on the market. However, there are no new stores yet, but rather designated stalls in other commercial establishments. The first such stall was opened in the town of Kuklen. The idea is to have a total of 70 such stationary sites in the small settlements of Plovdiv Province by the end of next year, according to the state-owned company. The concept provides for these stalls to offer foodstuffs at fixed prices with minimal profit, with the commercial markup limited to 10%. Immediately on social media, a comparison was made between the prices of "Shop for the People" and the announced prices in a brochure of a chain of stores in Bulgaria.
