Ukrainian rapeseed processors are advocating for a change in the country's GMO regulation laws to permit the import of genetically modified rapeseed. This is due to a significant decrease in the production of Ukrainian rapeseed, attributed to occupied territories and crop failure. The processors believe that importing and processing GMO rapeseed could help alleviate the shortage and generate revenue. They are proposing amendments to the 2007 law on GMO processes to facilitate the purchase, processing, and re-export of GMO rapeseed.
