The Spanish Council of Ministers has passed a royal decree, proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, to adapt the EU regulations on vineyard planting authorisations in response to weather challenges and market uncertainties in the wine sector. The decree aims to provide flexibility by extending the validity of these authorisations for regions affected by drought, excessive rainfall, or market disruptions, without imposing administrative sanctions on those who do not use them and wish to extend their validity. This initiative is in line with European Commission regulations published last August, intending to support winegrowers during challenging times.
