In the Polish countryside, a conflict is escalating that was still marginal a few years ago. Today, it increasingly ends up in courts and concerns the fundamental issue – the right to conduct agricultural production. Disputes about smells, noise, or the proximity of pig farms are no longer isolated incidents but are starting to create a new trend. However, a much more serious problem is emerging in the background: the inconsistency of regulations, which could halt the development of the entire sector. Examples of lawsuits against farmers are no longer individual cases. The case from Pomerania, where the pig farm owner was sued for 60 thousand PLN for the mere proximity of animal production, shows the scale of the tensions. This phenomenon, already known in Western Europe, is beginning to be visible in Poland as well.
