The number of meat cuts decreased slightly in Hungary

In 2020, according to preliminary data, domestic slaughterhouse production fell by 1.2 percent to 1.6 million tons. The number of cattle and poultry slaughters decreased, the number of pigs did not change compared to 2019. Poultry for slaughter accounted for 54 percent and pigs for slaughter for 37 percent. In recent years, the proportion of the former has increased, that of the latter has decreased, and the 6.2 per cent weight of beef cattle has not changed significantly. Farms produced almost the same amount of chicken eggs from animal products, 2.578 billion pieces, according to the report entitled Situation on Agriculture, 2020, prepared by the Central Statistical Office (CSO).
