The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Canary Islands has allocated 7.7 million euros in aid to affected farmers due to the repercussions of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This aid is additional to the 7.6 million and 8.2 million euros distributed earlier and brings the total to 23.5 million euros. The aid is designed to support nearly a thousand companies and self-employed owners of various livestock. The aid is also inclusive of a 5% increase for young people and a 16% increase for non-capital islands to offset costs. The government has also increased the POSEI 2023 subsidies by 20%, providing over 302 million euros, the largest financial record in the program's history.
