A collaborative effort between the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TST) and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has been launched in Ubon Ratchathani province to enhance banana farming and increase yield to meet export standards. This initiative, titled "Alternative banana for survival," aims to sustainably strengthen farmers by providing technology, innovation, and expertise in reducing cultivation costs, improving quality, and combating diseases and pests. The project seeks to increase banana productivity and quality to satisfy Japanese export demands, currently meeting only 10% of the demand. The collaboration will develop a comprehensive project plan to benefit enterprises, farmers, and help in debt and poverty solutions through science, technology, and innovation.
