Turkey is the world's leading cherry producer, exporting to 76 countries and generating a revenue of $133.54 million from the export of 57.3 thousand tons from January 1 to November 15 of this year. The country grows around 50 cherry species and is known for the '0900 Ziraat' or 'Turkish cherry'. The province of İzmir was the most productive in the 2021 season, with Kemalpaşa district leading in production. Cherry production in Turkey has seen an increase, reaching 724.9 thousand tons in 2020, and the country is among the top countries for cherry exports alongside Chile, Hong Kong, and the USA. However, production has decreased due to reduced cultivation area and adverse climatic conditions.
