Turkmenistan exported significantly more tomatoes in 2022

In 2022, Turkmenistan emerged as a major exporter of tomatoes, exporting 104 thousand tons to Russia and other countries, marking a significant increase from the previous year. This surge propelled Turkmenistan into the top-four positions among greenhouse tomato suppliers in Russia and established the country as the primary supplier to Tajikistan. The growth in tomato cultivation is attributed to the expansion of greenhouse farming in Turkmenistan, with 712 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of greenhouse vegetables, particularly tomatoes, enabling nearly year-round production.
