In May 2023, Ukraine experienced a notable increase in dairy exports, with the exception of butter, reaching 9.76 thousand tons valued at $22.53 million, marking a 29.78% increase in volume and a 16.05% increase in revenue. The main exports included dry and condensed milk, non-condensed milk and cream, milk whey, ice cream, fermented milk products, cheese, and a reduction in imports of dairy products due to a decrease in milk and cream supply. The lifting of temporary bans on agricultural imports by Central and Eastern European countries and the use of their transport infrastructure contributed to the boost in dairy exports. However, Ukrainian suppliers faced competition from cheap European dairy products in foreign markets.
