Ukraine: Up to 12 tons per hectare; growing blackberries can be a profitable business

Blackberries are a very promising crop. The costs of its collection and cultivation are lower than the cultivation of raspberries, and the yield is higher. This is stated in the material SEEDS. Bohdan Hnatyuk, an agronomist at the Dvipa company, which grows organic berries in the Dnipropetrovsk region, considers blackberries to be underestimated. The agronomist plans to plant this berry on the farm. "Blackberries are on average twice as productive as raspberries, it is possible to get 10-12 tons per hectare. Therefore, even taking into account the cost per hectare, its cost is lower, it is easier to collect, so the collection fee is similar to the cost of harvesting garden strawberries. Industrial varieties are not prickly, grown on wallpaper. Even if the price of blackberries is lower than raspberries, it is compensated by higher yields, ”says Hnatyuk.
