Vietnam's shrimp exports to the UK have seen a positive growth of 15% up to September 15, 2020, reaching $161.2 million, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The UK is now the sixth largest market for Vietnamese shrimp, accounting for 6.5% of the total shrimp export value of Vietnam. The UK's preference is for warm-water shrimp, which makes up 61% of total shrimp sales in the retail segment. Vietnam remains the largest supplier of shrimp to the UK, contributing 24% to the country's total shrimp imports, followed by India and Thailand. Vietnamese processed shrimp products enjoy a higher selling price and quality in the UK market compared to those of India and Bangladesh.
