Increasingly, the practice of growing corn as a monoculture is being implemented. Corn can be grown in the same field year after year. On chernozem soils, continuous corn cultivation with the annual application of organic fertilizers is possible for 6-10 years, and on less fertile soils, for 3-5 years. This is written by Jeanna Moldovan, a candidate of agricultural sciences, in the article "Laying the Foundations" in The Ukrainian Farmer magazine. Planting corn after corn in the steppe zone is possible, however, with strict adherence to measures against stalk diseases, seed mold, root rot, and nigrosporosis.
