Kenya is struggling to secure 10 million bags of maize due to other countries refusing to sell their crop. The Agriculture Ministry has imported 1,305 tonnes of maize and 43,173 million tonnes of rice, and plans to import 1.4 million tonnes of maize and 1.1 million tonnes of rice soon. The ministry is also looking for alternatives to lower the cost of flour and has asked MPs to sensitize Kenyans on other food crops to reduce reliance on maize.
