The article highlights the significant role of women in ProTierras, a project funded by various federal programs, aimed at promoting sustainable land management and conservation in the semi-arid region of Valle del Mezquital, Hidalgo. The project has been instrumental in providing training to nearly 1,200 farmers across Hidalgo, Oaxaca, and Zacatecas, with a focus on adopting organic farming practices and efficient irrigation systems. In Hermosillo Montenoble, a community primarily reliant on corn and bean cultivation, a group of women has successfully produced over 260 kilograms of vegetables using these sustainable methods, with 90% of the produce sold locally. The project has also supported the reforestation of 963 hectares and prevention of erosion over 157 hectares through soil conservation practices.
