The Zimbabwean government is encouraging growers to plant root crops such as sweet potatoes and cassava before the end of February, in response to current rainfall. An advisory bulletin from Agritex recommends commercial cultivation of these crops and offers virus-free sweet potato sticks to small growers through the horticulture recovery plan. Growers are also advised to store their own plant material off-season and to choose varieties based on cultivation period, yield potential, and market preference.
