The value of export of frozen tuna fillets (HS 030487) grew by almost 50% since 2015 achieving more than US$ 1.3 billion in value in 2019. The growth is directly related to growth in landings on skipjack tuna, a species not yet endangered by overfishing. Globally there is a growing demand for frozen and canned tuna instead of fresh for food safety reasons and logistics, which was intensified by the pandemic. This report addresses the market landscape on frozen tuna fillets including consumption, and production & exports. Emphasis is on key global players including Vietnam, South Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, the Maldives, Japan, and the EU.
