The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics has reported a 5.4% increase in Egypt's fish production in 2019, reaching 2 million tons compared to the previous year. Fish farms were the primary contributor, accounting for 79.7% of the production. Bony fish were the most produced species at 98.0%, followed by other fish and crustaceans. New national projects in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate also contributed to the production of fresh water and marine fish, as well as shrimp.
