Nearly 70 Bulgarian producers are safeguarding traditions with a European certificate for yogurt and white brined cheese. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Stefan Burdzhev at the opening of the VI National Fair "The Milk Road of Bulgaria through the Centuries" in Lukovit. He pointed out that currently 39 producers are certified for the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) "Bulgarian yogurt" and 30 for the PDO "Bulgarian white brined cheese," with another 10 in the registration process. "Bulgaria has great potential for increasing productivity by improving the genetics of dairy herds. It is no coincidence that Bulgarian yogurt and Bulgarian white brined cheese need no special introduction, as they are well-known and sought after in Europe and the world," said Deputy Minister Burdzhev.
