Within the framework of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), the National Integrated Poultry Project has been announced. Its pilot phase began in the states of Enugu, Kaduna, and Oyo in early 2026, with nationwide expansion planned for 2027. The details of the project were presented by Joseph Tegbe, the Director-General of the NCSP, at a Chinese New Year event in Abuja. The event also commemorated the 55th anniversary of Nigeria-China diplomatic relations. The program covers the entire value chain of the poultry industry. Feed production, hatcheries, laying hen and broiler farms, processing plants, cold storage, and distribution networks are all part of it. When at full capacity, the plans are to have more than 7 million laying hens and 2 million broilers, enabling the production of 6 million eggs per day.
