Predictive analysis by Oil World reveals a downturn in global sunflower oil exports in 2024/25, with an expected decrease from 16.02 to 13.91 million tonnes, primarily due to a significant drop in sunflower seed processing and lower oil yield caused by severe drought in the Black Sea region. The US Department of Agriculture has lowered its global sunflower production forecast by 2 million tons, and Ukraine and Russia have experienced the most notable harvest declines. The European Organization of Cereals, Oilseeds, Vegetable Oils and Meals (COCERAL) has also reported a reduction in the EU's sunflower seed production, especially in Romania and Bulgaria, contributing to the overall decline in the market.
